Summer Nail Colors: Chic, Sparkly, and Shiny
Summer is the perfect time to refresh your look, and what better way to do that than with a fresh manicure? With the price of things sky-rocketing, jobs being harder to come by if you’re in the private/consulting realm (guilty), or you just want to save more in the emergency fund, doing your own manicure is a great way to save a few hundred dollars a month!
This season, I’m liking a wave of soft, sophisticated, and playful shades that are perfect for any summer occasion. Whether you’re lounging by the pool, exploring Austin’s vibrant streets, going on a girls trip, or attending a chic rooftop party, your nails can be the perfect accessory.
These color recommendations are all more subtle, everyday colors that do not need to be changed regularly. Since we’re all on a budget lately, there is a lot of logic in picking some cute neutral nail colors!
My Top Summer 2025 Everyday Nail Colors
Nail Thoughts NT-25 Lemon Drops - While I do like this soft, pastel yellow that’s as warm as the Texas sun, I do think the Butter Yellow trend will be short lived. That said, this shade is perfect for those who want a pop of color without being too bold. It does remind me of a color Essie polish I had in high school that looked absolutely horrific with my skin tone…
Nail Thoughts NTB-02 Strawberry Milk Base - I love that the next 4 colors are all Base, Builder, and Color in one. You just need to follow the steps below to use these BIABs/Base colors. A creamy, milky pink that brings a subtle, fresh glow to your nails. Ideal for a clean, minimalist look.
Nail Thoughts NTB-17 Rosé Base - This light pink with a touch of rosé shimmer is the perfect mix of classic and fun.
Nail Thoughts NTB-20 Sugar Glaze Base - A soft, semi-sheer pink that gives your nails a healthy, natural look.
The GelBottle Dreamer BIAB™ - A beautiful, versatile sheer pink that adds a delicate, glossy finish to your nails.

How to Apply BIAB Gel at Home
Prep Your Nails: Clean, file, and buff your natural nails. Push back cuticles and ensure the nail surface is free of oils.
Use Bonder: Apply Akzentz Affixit Non-Acid Bonder to enhance adhesion and prevent lifting.
Apply Base Coat: Use a thin layer of BIAB (Builder in a Bottle) gel and cure it under a UV/LED lamp for the recommended time.
Build Structure: Apply another layer of BIAB, this time creating a slightly thicker layer. Use the brush to build a natural arch for strength. Cure again.
Refine Shape: If needed, gently file and shape your nails for a smooth surface.
Finish with Top Coat: Apply a glossy or matte top coat and cure for a long-lasting finish. I am going to test this Izemi brand from Nail Art House Store.
You’ll need a few things to get started:
A UV lamp light to cure the gel. I like this one!
Nail Polish remover. I love the Zoya brand.
Cuticle Softener. Manicurist has changed my life.
Cuticle Oil. Again, Manicurist is my go-to.
Cotton balls to prep the nail
Cuticle pusher and nail cleaner
So whether you’re booking an appointment for a Russian manicure at Nail Art House or stocking up on polishes for an at-home spa day to save some cash, your summer nails are guaranteed to shine.
